Last month, we discovered a web-based application called JotSpot. As a small company and a group, we value low cost application to lower our overhead. After reading about what JotSpot Wiki could do plus it offers a free personal account, we opened up an account there. The purpose was to handle our company’s information online without ever hosting ourselves. After fiddling around the web-based application (we wanted it to handle our small project management group), we found out that we need more of the features and we had to pay for that:
Since it’s a paid service, it put us off on using this. So today, we found out:
Now this is a good sign of free usage for this fantastic tool. We can’t wait for its relaunch.

According to Wikipedia, Project Management is the discipline of organizing and managing resources in such a way that these resources deliver all the work required to complete a project within defined scope, time, and cost constraints. A project is a temporary and one-time endeavor undertaken to create a unique product or service.
Recently, I received a phone call by a company who organizes Project Management courses. The unique thing about what they are offering is a Simulation training. I like their brochure saying that “Pilots are out through flight simulation programmes before they fly. In ‘the name of their programme’, participants are put through a simulation of a 24 week project with typical problems encountered in real life projects”. Now this is something interesting and different, I wonder what are typical problems in real life projects.
Beside the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, they were also promoting Project Management Office (PMO). PMO is a program for organizations that have to manage or implement multiple projects at the same time. With PMO, it is said to ensure better monitoring and optimal allocation of resources.
So, how does Facility Management has got to do with Project Management? A lot I guess. Either way, management is a broad and delicate topic to cover. Let’s leave that to the so-called expert.
P/S: Donald Trump’s Apprentice show is a good program to observe how project management is being done the real life way.
