Wordpress blog has the tendency to corrupt more often than we have expected. It is probably because of my team and I mix both the development and publishing using the same webhosting. We are utilizing everything we have in our technical possession. Recently, since Wordpress just post their latest version, instead of repairing, I upgraded this blog besides changing the layout of this blog to a new one. I wonder why wordpress post their upgrade so oftenly.
Besides juggling between doing marketing preparation and office administration, I’m also developing a resource place about Facilities Management. It took me a week to configure and I just posted one article taken from another site. Of course I have a link back to their site or else it would be considered stealing. I present:
It’s far from perfect yet but at least it’s a step further to compile useful information for internet searchers and also as our effort to digitize and compile everything related to Facilities Management. So, be sure to visit or you may register to become a member of the directory if you wish to post your own FM article.

I’ve been playing around with Google Video and the video below is what I’ve produced on one of SIMEK video presentation:
In this video, a laser scanning device is used to scan an area including the building in that particular area. Initially the building doesn’t have any drawing. Once the scanning is complete, a computer rendering software is used to simulate the exterior design. The AutoCAD drawing is derive from the data obtained from the scanning process. This can all be done in a less than a week according to the source that was informed. For more information, you can visit Optira’s Website.

Track your assets using a handheld mobile device. With today’s craze over mobility and instant access everywhere you go, you should be able to save your time with external device rather than using the manual paper jotting process.
Read all about Enterprise Mobility for Facilities and Infrastructure Management (in PDF).

In the previous post, I’ve mentioned about writing the difference between a web based application and a windows based application. We will try to dig out a few points so that it will benefit users on decision making.
Because of wide spread usage of the internet using only an internet browser, many organizations choose to deploy a web-based system for their management use. In a Facilities Management System, particularly ARCHIBUS/FM, there are 2 options which client can choose, the windows based is called ARCHIBUS/FM V.15 and for the web-based is called FM Web Central 15. Both of them have their own advantages and disadvantages. We’ll discuss first on ARCHIBUS/FM V.15 first and then we’ll proceed to FM Web Central 15 later on.
Windows based ARCHIBUS/FM V.15 is favoured for “heavy” user since it has seamless integration with AutoCAD. The application is also much more powerful and more faster then the web-based. This speed up a lot of the process especially when it comes to linking drawings with the data acquired and is most useful for bulk operations. If there is a lot of changes need to done with the data, using the ARCHIBUS/FM V.15 is more practical. The downside of this type of application is, it’ll cost more on the licensing and a powerful workstation is needed to get the job done. However, comparing it with the speed and the production as a result, it will greatly worth the money that is spent.
Web based FM Web Central 15 is targeted for a wide collaborative and remote users. It is an attractive deployment option, providing on-demand access to information, anywhere in the world. By just using an internet browser, it will truely benefit more number of peoples. The limitation, the data accessed is limited to published data and the manipulation of the data is difficult to be changed. If you thought that is bad, well, it is meant to be that way as users using the web are mainly interested to get general data about the facilities. Still, the practicality is there and it will eventually benefit when it is deployed.
For more information about this particular subject, contact us so that we could provide you with all the necessary information that you need.
P/S: ARCHIBUS/FM V.16 will be launched very shortly, I’ll try and get more information on that later on.
