The New ARCHIBUS/FM Version 16.2 Look
Last week, we received a Fedex package by ARCHIBUS Inc. for our latest copy of the new ARCHIBUS/FM Version 16.2 along with the usual legal materials and stuff. Instead of just a piece of installation CD, the latest version now comes with 2 CDs. Basic installation requires only the first CD, for a more advanced installation, the second CD is now necessary. As suspected, there are more available features. For seasoned users, more features are welcome eventhough they are normally underutilized. For new ARCHIBUS/FM users, it’s almost the same as trying out the latest upcoming version of Microsoft Office 2007. You maybe familiar with the overwhelming feeling when trying out new stuff.
We spent a couple of hours exploring and playing around with the latest ARCHIBUS/FM V16.2 (Windows Based) and the most prominent thing we’ve noticed is its cosmetic upgrade. Version 14 and 15 wasn’t so much different in their opening look plus their tool bars are just pretty plain basic. Check out ARCHIBUS/FM V16.2 new look:
In the previous version, opening up the application would just bring a blank page with only the project icon. The new ARCHIBUS/FM now displays a learning path where new users can now read about roles available when using the software. It also highlights the skills and knowledge needed for each roles. We haven’t tested ARCHIBUS/FM Web Central V.16 yet. We’ll report on our findings in a while.
