Technical Arrangement
Series of meet up sessions has been done and many activities were being scheduled. As for the team internal meeting, we had a great time learning all about CAFM with a very experience Senior Project Manager from India. He has been implementing Facility Management system through lots of projects.
Recently, the FMS Committee has made a decision to adopt the Uniformat II and using the code as the foundation for the FMS system. On behalf of the system implementation team, we have no idea yet on how to put the codes in the system and making it work. Our consultant that we’ve asked wasn’t accepting the idea and insist to follow the default methods. The funny thing is, he also said that the Uniformat Codes is acceptable to be used. So, from the system implementer point of view, we will do whatever we can to assist on whatever decisions that have been made.
One of the best thing that we love doing is to test out new things we discovered. As part of the technical team, myself and the team is testing on the Web Central product to see if we could customize the layout and related stuff. Formerly, we have successfully installed web application based on PHP with MySQL database driven. This blog for example is one of them. So, we thought we could do the same with Web Central. Unfortunately we were wrong, we tried using this amazing tool called “Webserver on a disk“. The tool is very useful to do development without using a live server. Only a 256MB pendrive is sufficient to run as a server which can be run on any PC. However, Web Central is a Java based application so it doesn’t support. Still, we will look for other alternatives or any possible ways to make things happen.
We are going to move on to the next building out of the 4 buildings identified. More works are coming so we better get ourselves prepared.
