Last week, my management team consisting of my boss, myself and my new special project manager went down to Johor Bahru to see a few people who are experts in Facility Management and also Geographical Information System (GIS). They need a few points and they are pursuing on a special project. That was when I saw a pamplet about Facilities Management & Maintenance Conference Asia 2006 that will be held in Marina Mandarin Hotel, Singapore. The conference is going to go on the 29th and 30th May 2006.
Speaking about conference, we are going to setup a booth for a business conference which is going to be held at Wisma Sime Darby next month. We stil don’t have a clue who is going to come but it’ll be a great experience to meet all those business people and share with them what we can do for them.
Our progress on our project. The project is still moving and we have structured the data that we have collected. We are going to do a simulation on what we have gathered to show the client on what they will benefit although this process should be done during an introduction presentation. Well, better to do something than not doing anything. We are contacting a few parties to help us out on the technical issues. Other than that, we are moving ahead with a couple of meetings with big people from various organization. I’ll keep an update on that matter as we go along the way but I can only disclose few information related.

Ever since I’ve established this blog back in August 2005, I’ve change the layout of this blog twice. I’ve searched for a few skins which can be implemented along with a few adsense ads and I’ve found the skin to be quite well structured and it indeed what I have beens searching for. Using my SEO knowledge, I did achieve to put this blog in a PR 2 rank on Google with very little inbound links.
Recently, I’ve installed statcounter tracker to see where this blog visitor normally comes from. Little do I know that the archive section is not working and my previous post can’t be found in the search engine. My mistake was not to test out the link on this blog. So, since Wordpress recently released their version 2.0.1, I decided to upgrade to the latest version and repair the broken link. Later on, after fiddling the option menu, I found out that I set the wrong permalink. It is now working and I hope my previous post would be searchable after this.
I tracked down who comes to this blog and surprisingly, this blog is listed on an FM discussion forum. I haven’t yet participated in any FM community forum but I intend to so afterward. If you are interested to join, Autodesk FM Forum, the one listed this blog is a good forum to search or share for free valuable facilities management information.
I’m going off to Johor Bahru to join a meeting for a project there. Hopefully, the meeting will turn up well. I’ll Update on that and the one which is still in progress when I get back.

Series of meet up sessions has been done and many activities were being scheduled. As for the team internal meeting, we had a great time learning all about CAFM with a very experience Senior Project Manager from India. He has been implementing Facility Management system through lots of projects.
Recently, the FMS Committee has made a decision to adopt the Uniformat II and using the code as the foundation for the FMS system. On behalf of the system implementation team, we have no idea yet on how to put the codes in the system and making it work. Our consultant that we’ve asked wasn’t accepting the idea and insist to follow the default methods. The funny thing is, he also said that the Uniformat Codes is acceptable to be used. So, from the system implementer point of view, we will do whatever we can to assist on whatever decisions that have been made.
One of the best thing that we love doing is to test out new things we discovered. As part of the technical team, myself and the team is testing on the Web Central product to see if we could customize the layout and related stuff. Formerly, we have successfully installed web application based on PHP with MySQL database driven. This blog for example is one of them. So, we thought we could do the same with Web Central. Unfortunately we were wrong, we tried using this amazing tool called “Webserver on a disk“. The tool is very useful to do development without using a live server. Only a 256MB pendrive is sufficient to run as a server which can be run on any PC. However, Web Central is a Java based application so it doesn’t support. Still, we will look for other alternatives or any possible ways to make things happen.
We are going to move on to the next building out of the 4 buildings identified. More works are coming so we better get ourselves prepared.
