Department Meet Up

Our team last week held 2 meetings at our client site. Since the implementation package includes Building Operation Management modules, we had to sit down and layout what the client have, to assess what kind of data that is available or not available yet. So we met each person that were in charge of different areas which was:

1. Civil
2. Mechanical
3. Landscape
4. Electrical
5. Telecommunication

We dug out quite a lot of interesting information from each department. It kind of look like an interview but it was fun. Still, getting back to business the client had numerous outsourced services and they are having a difficult time to track some of them. Some of department is also responsible for areas which was outside their territory.

I’ll give you a scenario here, the mechanical department is in charge over a lot of areas. One of them is the water supply. The supply from the water reservoir to all the building in the campus is not billed individually, therefore the client had to pay for all the usage from all the buildings for the entire site. They cannot track which building/department who has the most water usage. The same goes for electricity. Quite a lot of things to improve.

We will have the next Facility Management System meeting this Wednesday. I’ll update on that soon.
